A few practical terms.
Shui is in early development. These are the basics of using it.
Updated October 4, 2026
Availability
You may download available builds, use Shui with your people and share the project. The free tier allows one hosted channel and unlimited joined channels. Pro allows additional hosted channels: the Yearly plan is $19 per year and renews until cancelled; Lifetime is $49 as a one-time purchase. A license covers up to 3 Macs. A release candidate is available for testing. Try the free build before purchasing Pro. Checkout and licensing are handled by Polar under its own terms.
Early builds
Shui is provided “as is”, without warranty. Early builds can have rough edges, and availability may change. Use them with that in mind and keep backups of anything important.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for the content you send and the people you invite. Do not use Shui to break the law, harass others or distribute malware.
Delivery and storage
Delivery depends on networks and reachable peers. There is no guaranteed delivery time or cloud inbox. History lives on participating devices, so back up your Mac as you would anything else you care about.
External services
GitHub provides project hosting, release pages and support discussions. Optional remote AI providers handle the requests you send them under their own terms. Paid checkout and licensing use Polar. These services have their own policies, separate from peer messaging.
Changes and questions
Material changes will be noted on this page or in release notes. For questions about Shui, open an issue on GitHub.
